(poetic) justice

An outcome in which virtue is rewarded and evil punished, often in an especially appropriate or ironic manner. For example, "It was poetic justice for the known thief to go to jail for the one crime he didn't commit."

At times, my entire life seems like a demonstration of irony. Scorned and ridiculed when I haven't done anything to warrant it - steadfastly ignored when I have. Living when my heart has died, suffocating when I'm desperately trying to live. I work so hard to break through the surface, only to get pushed into the flames.

Out of the frying pan, into the fire, indeed.
